The organization has a small center taking care of the children of pavement dwellers since 1998.
Located in a charming Muslim neighborhood, three full time workers teach about 50 kids, sometimes with the support of international volunteers.
The children are between 4 to 8 years old and they come every weekday morning. They are encouraged to attend regularly and be on time.
The center is small and precarious but for sure it helps the kids to have a more holistic standard of living and to get out from the streets.
« Before I came here, no students passed level 10, now many of them pass level 12. We are doing a big achievement here! », Shahadat
Volunteers help the kids with the following tasks: writing, simple counting, solve puzzle, experiment, read albums and listen to stories. They paint, cut, paste, do gym and meditation exercises. Sharing your skills, experience and loving kindness is the best way you can help. You can also do activities according to your skills: music, origami…
The volunteer should know Basic English to communicate with the kids.
Volunteer work from 9.30am to 2.30pm (Monday to Friday).
« I came to this NGO hoping to bring a lot to the kids but they actually taught me a lot. I think about this unique experience very often» Morgane B, French volunteer.
The association provides a lunch, milk and fruit every day, and a set of clean clothes. Volunteers usually sleep in a hostel or Guest House in Delhi (Kailash Colony, Nizamuddin East are close by neighborhood). The NGO can advise you.
Beware: it is very hot in the summer!
« Do not hesitate to volunteer there! Kids are very affective and they truly need your help! » Adeline, French volunteer.
