This is a non-profit social enterprise whose profits benefit to the local ethnic minorities of Sapa, such as the Hmong. The organization is divided into four inter-connected parts: a school, a café, a Hmong handicraft store and a tour operation.
The direct beneficiaries are the locals (trekking guides, homestay owners, students, craftswomen) and international volunteers.
The NGO provides a good education, food, and accommodation to 35 children using a holistic approach. The social enterprise creates job opportunities for parents of these children, so that more children can attend to school instead of working in the fields. That way, these students can have better job opportunities after completing this higher education.
Any volunteers who have a teaching experience with kids could help in our NGO.
We speak English and it's one of the most big expectation we have about the volunteer profile. He has to manage fluently to be able to work with the kids, team and customers.
Volunteers will help with:
- Office tasks such as emailing, phoning, etc.
- The website: developing and improving its features, sometimes some fundraising missions
- Participating in classes to improve kids’ conversations skills
- Work at the café
Volunteer will work from Monday to Friday (8am-11am and 2pm-5pm). English teachers may have some evening or week end classes.
« We are flexible, volunteers can do different activities according to their skills ».
Hoa, Coordinator of volunteers.
Volunteers will pay $5 per day for lunch, diner and accommodation.
Each volunteer sleeps in the NGO’s house with the 35 kids. Accommodations vary depending on availability (there are single and shared double rooms).
Because it's important to us to build strong relationships between the volunteer and the kids, we all eat in the same house for the lunch and dinner. There are about 8 to 10 volunteers at the time, so you'll not be alone!
«Once per week; volunteers meet at the café and enjoy some drinks together outside, always nice meets!».
Jack, volunteer from Australia.
