Our NGO is a flagship program of Sri Ram Goburdhun Charitable Trust, a New Delhi (India) based non-profit organization engaged in education support and life skill enhancement of underprivileged children and their families. The alarming dropout rates and the poor condition of the state-run schools were the first ‘WHY’ the Sri Ram Goburdhun Charitable Trust decided to help us.
The NGO was founded in 2000 in New Delhi, India, offering primary and secondary-level educational support to 40 children living in slums throughout the city. Today we reach out to over 1000 children, 160 women and have created 50 job opportunities for people from the community, through our centres.
Over the past 16 years, the NGO has opened 6 after school support centres within the community. The aim of these centres has been to bridge the education gap for underprivileged children and improve their learning outcome. It is an after-school program that goes beyond academics to include life skills and all round development.
There are five different centers at our NGO which you will be shown in the first week after you arrive. After visiting the Project centers, the volunteer coordinator will discuss with you your work plan for the duration of your stay. Weekly meetings are also scheduled with the volunteer coordinator to review and recalibrate.
