Volunteer's actions

General Duties:

Kulen Outreach is a small, USA registered, non-profit education program focused on educating less-fortunate children from the rural areas of Cambodia. We are looking for a responsible Supervisor to oversee the workflow at our boarding school residence in the city of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The school has 21 female/male students ages 11-18 years old residing on the property. These students have graduated from our two countryside primary schools and are continuing their education at the public secondary school in the City. The role will include student supervision, onsite facility operations, coordinating volunteers & facilitating occasional school visitors. English classes are also provided at the boarding school Monday - Friday, however, the Supervisor will not be responsible for any teaching duties. The role will also involve reporting to the Program Manager at the school in Siem Reap.

*We do require the Supervisor to reside at the school. Room and board is provided by the school free of charge. Ideally, the Supervisor will have a part-time job during the day for a supplemental income.

Specific Tasks:

Student Supervision:

Working with the Program Manager and onsite staff, the Supervisor will be in charge of the well-being and safety of the students. From time to time, it will also require coordinating transportation, overseeing events and helping students with their studies.

Facility Operations:

Oversee the daily operations of the boarding school. This primarily involves ensuring the security and safety on the premise. It will also require overseeing and delegating tasks to keep the school clean, functional and suitable for the students to live at. The Supervisor will also help administer finances for repairs, maintenance, student needs and any other bills the school incurs.  The Supervisor will also be responsible for a simple monthly submission of a monthly expenditure record.

Volunteer Coordinator & School Liaison

Kulen Outreach has a small volunteer program where at various times we have 1-3 short term volunteers for 3-5 week periods. Working with the Program Manager, the Supervisor will help ensure their stay is comfortable at the school in Siem Reap, supervise them during their stay and help them get involved in our program. We also have visitors come to our school from time to time. The position will also require short tours of the school by interested parties.

Living Accommodation:

As mentioned above, Kulen Outreach will provide free room and board at the boarding school. This includes a comfortable room with A/C, personal bathroom, Wifi and communal school kitchen. Our school is located in central Siem Reap and is close to many restaurants, cafes, and other modern establishments.
