Our mission: fighting poverty by providing education to the socio-economically disadvantaged children of Jaipur.
What social impact?
This NGO was created to provide education to the children of a slum-dwelling community: 150 families live into a rubbish dump (déchetterie) and survive by collecting, recycling and re-selling wastes in Jaipur.
In the heart of the slum, two full time teachers teach more than 70 kids from 4 to 17 years old, with the support of some international volunteers (mostly from France and UK).
The school is small and precarious but for sure it helps the kids to focus on their future to get out from the slums.
« Before I came here, no students passed level 10, now many of them pass level 12. We are doing a big achievement here! ». Founder and director of the NGO
Volunteers help with:
- Teaching or assisting teachers during classes.
- Participating to extra-scholar activities.
- Use your talents & creativity by setting up a project (dance, drawing, music…).
« Volunteers represent a real window to the world for the kids», Founder and director of the school.
Volunteers work from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm. Lunch break where everybody bring his own food. Volunteers usually sleep in the city center of Jaipur (e.g.: Ever Green Hotel, Sunder Palace). Only 15 minutes away from the school by tuk-tuk. The NGO can help you to find good accommodation and can arrange you to live in a flat if you are 3 volunteers or more. Volunteers buy their own food.
« It is the biggest cultural and economical shock I have ever lived in my life! », Hugo D. French volunteer.
